Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

The above is the restaurant where we are celebrating one of my colleague belated birthday during today’s lunch time. It’s an American Restaurant named Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. located at The Curve, K.L.


This is the first Theme Restaurant with chain-link concept which was inspired by the 1994 film “Forrest Gump”. The restaurant is named after the movie's main characters Benjamin Bufford "Bubba" Blue and Forrest “Gump”, who were inspired to go into the shrimping business per Bubba's suggestion.

The restaurant has also gained fame for its unique paging system consisting of two license plates on the tables marked "Run Forrest Run" from Jenny's famous quote and "Stop Forrest Stop" based on the signs used to help Forrest when he played football at the University of Alabama. This unique system has really caught my attention and it's something new.


The red "Stop Forrest Stop" sign is used to signal that a table needs service and the blue "Run Forrest Run" means that all is well.

Bubba Gumps' is also well known for its gift shop full of all sorts of Forrest Gump memorabilia. It has things such as key chains, I Love Bubba shirts, Big Ol' Box of Chocolates and of course the movie.




The menu consists mostly of shrimp dishes, but also other western cuisine. If you are shrimp lover, then this is the place that you would not want to miss! They have different cooking style of shrimp. Besides that you may order some nice and mouthwatering dessert. Here are some of the dishes in the restaurant.

For me I am of the opinion that the concept is about the same as TGI Friday but just different style of food to be served.
